He And the LORD said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a thick
cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and believe
thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people unto the LORD
(
Exodus 19:9).
God is forbidden?
(By: Pastor L.R. Simas, Sr.)
4-30-07
In today's politically correct world where the mere mention of
God is forbidden, let alone the Bible. Sends people in a rage
saying "no, no, none of the God talk in here!" It wasn't always as
it is today! Imagine God is forbidden (more like not welcomed) to
be in a place, anyplace in our self centered world of today!
The world which He created and whose people are still loved by
Him! This is precisely why I chose to use the verse above!  Please
turn with me to Exodus chapter nineteen and starting with verse
nine, where we shall begin to read what God said to Moses and
the people of that day.
Exodus 19:9-15
9
And the LORD said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a
thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee,
and believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people
unto the LORD.
Since God can do as he pleases, that is until our time! His choice
was to show Himself as described above. This verse means they
shall see God in a safe form they can handle. As the Bible says,
"No man can see God and live (Exodus 33:20)."
12
And thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about,
saying, Take heed to yourselves, that ye go not up into the
mount, or touch the border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount
shall be surely put to death:
14 There shall not an hand touch it, but he shall surely be stoned,
or shot through; whether it be beast or man, it shall not live:
when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the
mount.
15 And he said unto the people, Be ready against the third day:
come not at your wives.
In the last part of the 15th verse "come not at your wives" does
not mean to hit or strike her. It means not to have relations of
the adult kind.
Next I want you to read the words of the LORD speaking to
Moses first then later to the people and their reaction to follow in
the next chapter. Continuing then, Exodus 19:16-25
16
And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that
there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the
mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all
the people that was in the camp trembled.
The world of today could learn from these folks as they were
extremely scared!
16
And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that
there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the
mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all
the people that was in the camp trembled.
The world of today could learn from these folks as they were
extremely scared!
19
And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed
louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a
voice.
20 And the LORD came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of
the mount: and the LORD called Moses up to the top of the
mount; and Moses went up.
21 And the LORD said unto Moses, Go down, charge the people,
lest they break through unto the LORD to gaze, and many of
them perish.
Perish, meaning to die.
22
And let the priests also, which come near to the LORD,
sanctify themselves, lest the LORD break forth upon them.
23 And Moses said unto the LORD, The people cannot come up
to mount Sinai: for thou chargedst us, saying, Set bounds about
the mount, and sanctify it.
To sanctify means to set it apart from something else. I am set
apart (sanctified) from the world, even though I am in the world.
24
And the LORD said unto him, Away, get thee down, and
thou shalt come up, thou, and Aaron with thee: but let not the
priests and the people break through to come up unto the LORD,
lest he break forth upon them.
25 So Moses went down unto the people, and spake unto them.
The next chapter deals with God giving of His commandments.
Also the reactions of the people of that time.
Exodus 20:1-20
1
And God spake all these words, saying,
2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the
land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
Lest you forget this is the same God of this time too!
3
Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Such as Idols, statues, pictures, jewelry and things that take the
place of God!
4
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any
likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the
earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
Again things that replace or are used as substitutes such as Idols,
statues, pictures, jewelry or anything that takes the place of God.
5
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for
I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of
the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth
generation of them that hate me;
This just says not to offer worship to anything or anyone other
than God.
6
And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and
keep my commandments.
7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain;
for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in
vain.
Meaning No swearing or cussing an invoking God's name along
with it, also meaning to use God's name while damning
something, lastly, the word vain, meaning empty or without
substance or not God-like.
8
Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10 But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD thy God: in
it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy
daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle,
nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea,
and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the
LORD blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.
12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long
upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
How many of our darling little (and not so little) ones hold to
this one today??
13
Thou shalt not kill.
Meaning, to do murder.
14
Thou shalt not commit adultery.
15 Thou shalt not steal.
Are you guilty of this one?? Yes even something as small as a
candy!!
16
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
Said something that wasn't true about a person??
17
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not
covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his
maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy
neighbour's.
In a word envy!!  To desire something which was not meant for
you to have or own.
18
And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings,
and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and
when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off.
19 And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will
hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.
20 And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to
prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin
not.
Here is where I wanted us to be! If we learned an extra lesson on
the way good! Notice the words of the people talking with
Moses. They are now having become willing to listen to him.
Why?? Because they had gained fear and hopefully respect. Not
of Moses (although that might have also been true) but of our
great and all powerful God!
As I said at the beginning of this article, God is forbidden! In
this day and age with all its niceties and let's not infringe on
anyone's rights! What happen to God's rights??
I believe and the Bible backs me up when I say that God is
longsuffering (II Peter 3:9). Meaning that God has patience and
has continued to allow (yes, allowed) man's foolishness to
continue to reign on the earth, for how much longer?? God
knows! When He has had enough all of His wrath will be poured
out! Just as He is longsuffering, He is also willing to put a stop
to the entire goings on! Remember all is His! You, me, the world
and where will you be when God decides to put an end to all the
worlds’ foolishness??
God has visited the people of old and calling them a "Peculiar
treasure" which means "personal property" . What will He call the
selfish, envious, self serving, sinful, and non-God fearing people
of today?? And when you are in trouble who shall it be you shall
call on to answer your cries?? God?? Gee, you couldn't do that.
Someone might say "You're not being politically correct!"
So go ahead and have it your way, live in the Pepsi generation!
Be down with it! Be cool man and all that stuff. But, when it's
you in that next jam, accident, or a life threatening situation that
life just seems to throw at us from time to time.Don't forget not
to call on God for help! Because you forbid Him to be in your life
and world of politically correctness!
If you should come to your senses in the next few moments and
realized there is more to this life than what has been shown to
you. May I suggest that you get God and let go of the things this
world has to offer! Jesus said there is much more. Read His
words for yourself.
“2
In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I
would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and
receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also

(John 14:2-3)."  There is a way to live a new and God approved
life! Believe on the Name of Jesus!
Believe that God wants more for you then you could even begin
to imagine. The Bible says "
But as it is written, Eye hath not
seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man,
the things which God hath prepared for them that love him
(I
Corinthians 2:9)."
Are you ready to trust and leave this lying self centered way of
life?? Then, and if you are, get saved and come out from among
them! Trust your eternal future on the only one who is worthy of
trust! Whose name is trust! The Man who was (and still is) God!
Jesus who came to this earth in the form of servant and placed it
all on the line for you, my friend, yes you! With all your sins and
imperfections! He is willing to give to you this very day the gift
that is eternal life!
Let me leave you today with just this one question. How you
answer it is the most important thing you'll ever do in this
lifetime. Ready?? Okay! Jesus died for you, will you live for
Him?? What saith Thee??
