Last month we spoke about a time of failure. This month I
want to continue to show how the world is continuing to be
confused and deceived by the prince of this world. There are many
folks that the world looks to as authorities with great knowledge
and (at times) great power. These people are looked to for help
and to make that, which makes no sense, make sense. How is it
done?? What is being used as the instrument to make clear that
which isn't??
The answer (in part) is language! These folks tell us exactly what
we want to hear. Or at least what we think we want to hear.
Remember Jesus said, "And ye shall know the truth, and the
truth shall make you free" (John 8:32). I believe my friend, that
what was said by Jesus, the Lord, and great God is true and
truth that comes from Him is without any doubt and totally
dependable!!
This says that the fight being fought is not against the people of
our day however, we are waging a fight with the help of the
Holy Spirit against them that would oppose what God has said
is good. The god of this world would desire that we not offer
resistance and just go along with his designs.
Sometimes these well meaning folks are not aware they
themselves are being used to do the Devil's bidding. How?? One
way is to offer something that is not for our time (dispensation)
or not in God's will for us.
For instance, some of these well meaning people say something
like, "God wants to do a miracle in your life"! "If you'll just trust
Him"! If you'll sow a seed of (and they give the amount) God will
bless you in (and that too is explained) ways"!
There are many that are pulled in to these things and think that
God wants to do the things that these folks speak about. They
will point to places in Scripture that support (seemingly) what
they claim God is offering. This is one application of what we are
contending with.
What I ask is to whom are these folks speaking?? If they are
talking to you, may I say are you saved?? For if you are then,
what God wants is for you to share what Jesus did for you and
for you to share that with everyone you meet.
Another thing I'd like to bring out is principalities, powers, rulers
of the darkness of this world, and spiritual wickedness in high
places. I believe that these terms and titles refer more to today's
world now more than ever. Paul warns us to be strong however,
not in our strength! For our strength like our sins are like filthy
rags (which have been paid for by our Lord Jesus) and are no
match for Satan and his devils. So, we need to be able to be in the
Lord's strength.
The rulers (principalities, powers, and darkness) are not our
friends and would have us destroyed. They are trying very hard
to accomplish it too. Look around and see for yourselves. Isaiah
describes today better than I can so I'll quote him, "Woe unto
them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for
light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet
for bitter" (Isaiah 5:20)! We are playing right in to the hands of
the enemies of God. Are we not calling things that are wrong,
right?? And things that are right, wrong??
Remember from last month when I said, "It doesn't surprise me
that today that God's Word can't be preached, shared, or even
given away in the public square". Can you see that it is the folks
that Paul spoke about in Ephesians 6:12?? They are the very
same ones in our world of today.
Spiritual wickedness in high places are winning this match.
Why?? Because my friend we are not doing our part. We are not
standing with the Lord! It’s sad, but all to true. We choose to
serve not God, no, I'm sad to say, we choose to serve the prince
and god of this world who has blinded our minds (II Corinthians
4:4). Thus leaving us to fall prey to the evil described as good!
Let us not walk by sight and believe these folks that desire to be
authorities in our lives. Let us look to the Lord Jesus and the one
book that is the authority on all things in our lives. The Holy
Bible, God's mind in print. Let us lean not on our own
understanding but look to Jesus the author and finisher of our
faith.
There are many well meaning folks that are trying to tell or
convince us that they have the answers or solutions to all our
problems. Believe them not!! The Bible says, "Many will say to me
in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name?
and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done
many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I
never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity"
(Matthew7:22-23).
Each of these folks are (in their own way) convincing. They have
to be as they want us in the same trap that they unknowingly are
in. The Devil, the god of this world has filled their heads with
lies that are spoken as truth. Let us not forget that every lie is
based on truth. Don't be sucked into these untruths and stay
steadfast on what God says, for His word is truth without
doubt!
Let me close with the following: We are living in what the Bible
calls “perilous times” and we need to be very careful in whom we
put our trust in. We need to be children of God. To trust in Him
only! For if we decide to follow Jesus as instructed by the Word
of God, there surely is a price to pay and also there are rewards
too!! Not here on earth, but in a home in heaven. Jesus told of
this place in John's gospel where Jesus says, "In my Father's
house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told
you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a
place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself;
that where I am, there ye may be also" (John 14:2-3).
People in the world of today lie! You must make a choice, believe
man and follow him or believe God and follow Him!! What have
the authorities of this world done for you?? Remember
