"For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how
that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according
to the scriptures:

The Good News!

Today is known as "Resurrection Day" or (as some folks refer to it)
"Easter Sunday", the day in history that Jesus did exactly what He
that day saying, "
Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it
up
" (John 2:19). Of course Jesus was referring to Himself and they
were thinking about the temple, a building that took over forty years
to construct.
The question has been asked many times “who killed Jesus”? The
words of Jesus Himself, provides the answer to the question. During
His teaching to His disciples Jesus says the following, “
Therefore doth
my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it
again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have
power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This
commandment have I received of my Father
” (John 10:17-18). While
the above statement is true, the world is yet another and the real
reason for Jesus’ self sacrifice, which was determined long before the
actual event happened.
Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection opened the way for sinners (like
you and me) to be reconciled to God, the only way into heaven. Jesus
said, “
I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the
Father, but by me
” (John 14:6). This is the good news for all of us!
Notice the words uttered by Jesus. He didn’t say that you, me or
anyone else could gain heaven, by any other means except by Him.
Jesus said one simple way and the only way was by Him and Him
alone bar none!!
We have now come to a day, which we set aside to remember His
returning to us from the dead, according to the scriptures. Now is the
time (if you haven’t already) to turn to the risen Saviour and to gain
eternal life.
While we celebrate the day of Jesus’ resurrection, may the Lord
touch you, and may the Holy Spirit convict you of the need to trust
the risen Saviour, and in His word. His word is pure, true, and
absolute (Psalm 12:6-7). May you realize the need to get saved and
gain heaven. As Jesus said, “
For what is a man profited, if he shall
gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?...
” (Matthew 16:26).
Today, you can start a new life and all because Jesus made the way
possible. He gave so we could gain. God wants us to be with Him in
heaven and to live eternally in peace. There isn’t a religious system or
denomination that can do what Jesus did on that terrible day. He gave
Himself in our place and for us. We need not neither religion nor
denomination to get to heaven. All we need is what Jesus spoke
during His sinless and perfect life on earth.
Resurrection day reminds us that Jesus did everything He said He
would do, and we can place our total trust in Him. We can believe
Him without doubt. Do you remember what He said to Thomas?
Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are
they that have not seen, and yet have believed
” (John 20:29). So this
leaves just one question, whom will you trust with your eternity??
The world maybe in turmoil with everything that is going on however,
the things that can still be relied upon is God’s Son, Jesus and God’s
Word. Happy Resurrection Day!
