Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth. (Proverbs 27:1) If Tomorrow Never Came! By: Pastor L.R. Simas, Sr. 1-26-2011
If I lost you would tomorrow matter?? Would the evening contain any value?? How about what we refer to as life?? Would continuing to live have any future worth looking forward to?? How about the items we think make us happy. Would they still make us happy?? If everything we care for and about or at least say we do stopped being important to us what would be left?? In other words, if everything we loved, cared about, or thought we needed were to suddenly and without warning come to an end, would we care if tomorrow never came either?? Ask yourself!! Because if this is what is happening everyday slowly, ever so slowly. We don't even have the presence to mind to even acknowledge and more sadly want to know. As long as we can do the things (we think) are making us happy and healthy and wise?? We are (and have been) lulled into not looking or noticing at all. We live in an "all for me and the hell with you" world. A world that cares nothing for the common man nor even family and (if we still have any) friends. This is a strange way to open a message on the subject I've decided on and I'm sure that you'll agree if you have read any of the other messages I've written on this site in the past. So why then write in this manner?? One to get your attention, and quite possibly maybe make you realize that we are living in perilous times. We are in danger of the gravest (serious) kind. But are you worried?? No, probably not. I'm sure some of you or many of you think I'm out of my mind to even write these words of warning. Why?? Because you don't think you or we are in danger at all, and I'm just another person crying "The sky is falling". Well, you might be right however, with all that is happening shouldn't we at least take a look and check things out?? You might ask, "So, when did all this doom and gloom start then??" I'd say when man became his own god that's when. Think about it. Once we had a love and fear (respect) for the real God (you know, the one of the Bible, the real one). In which His (among other things) says, "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man" (Ecclesiastes 12:13). Maybe we strayed after reading with no fear and worse no belief the following: "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God " (Romans 12:1-2). It seems to me that when someone who is full of pride (the first sin) reads this statement by God (using Paul) gets offended and maybe says, "Who is this that tells me this is nothing and is only reasonable! Ha, I do as I wish!! Believe it or not, that is your God given free will too. You can decide not to follow Jesus and do as you please. Just remember there is a reaction to your action. In other words, you can do as you desire and yes there is a price to be paid for it too. Many are turning from the word of God and God himself. How?? By using these so-called easier to read and understand bibles. Howbeit they may be easier to read and easier to be understood but are these the real words of God?? Do they contain all of God's words, promises, and are you sure ?? Some say, "What's the difference??" Or, "Where's the difference??" Then don't want to hear the words of truth that are the truth indeed. I could show you what is missing from the bible you may be using thinking it is okay. I could tell you and even show and explain what such and such a book isn't as good as you might believe. I could even point out that some (maybe all) of what you are holding to is not right or correct, would you listen or would you say I'm just another of the "Nuts " that are involved in the "Only" movement. In part you'd be right. However, I would that you would at least continue reading this message. Think and ask yourself, "why did he (me) use such a strange title for this message??" If you are interested, really interested, read on. The reason is that I truly believe that if we keep going in the direction in which we are going that as the title implies it shall come to pass!! On a day long ago in a time we of today have no knowledge of, lived a man. Not an ordinary man as we think of man. This man had (I guess like me) a mission and purpose. His was (and remains) much more important and harder than mine to fulfill. Yet He did it completely. He was to show the love of the Father which sent him to us. Did he say, "I'm not sure I want to go through with this ??" Well, he didn't use the words such as the ones I put in his mouth (this is an example of what these new, easier to read and understand bibles might put it.) What actually spoken was, "And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt." (Matthew 26:39). That is what the grieving man sent by God said!! Notice please, he said ..."let this cup (situation) pass (avoid or not happen) from me". Now notice as this man sent from God says, "Nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt". Meaning this is not my decision but yours. Why don't we of today feel as strongly as this man sent from God did? Maybe because we've been told this is only allegory or fiction?? Maybe because today we care more for ourselves then we do for anyone else. A hard thing to admit even if only to ourselves. We not only live in a wicked, sinful world we are they who have made it this way!! We have told God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit to take a walk! We don't need you, we have scholar's, science, and wisdom! We have no need of you, so git!! One day when it's your turn to do what the Bible says, "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: " (Hebrews 9:27). What then will you say to this man who was sent by God?? One last thing, The man that God sent was Jesus!! His only begotten Son!! Not his one and only son and the many other (and wrong) ways Jesus' deity is obscured in these easier to read and understand so-called bibles state!! Jesus mad it possible by His death, burial, and resurrection (according to the Scriptures) made your tomorrow a reality. Whether you chose to believe or not!! He gave his life so that you could have many tomorrows. What you choose to do about this is most certainly your choice. In the end the final choice will have been made and made by you and you alone!! If one day you run out of tomorrows you will know what is meant by "If tomorrow never comes". I pray that you and the world changes and believes that God doesn't want you to try and change what He is (God is the same today, tomorrow, and forever) nor try to change His mind (God doesn't change, we do). Repent (I know of a lady that lost a job for the mere use of this word) and come to believe that God is right and we need to agree with God!! Remember what God told Job?? "Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding." (Job 38:4). This also applies to you and me. If you don't like what I've written this time. Maybe it will cause you to think, ponder, and maybe repent?? Jesus died for you, will you live for Him??
