"...Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the
least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

(
Matthew 25:40)
What have you done?
(By: Pastor L.R. Simas, Sr.)

I hope that your new year has begun well and you are off to a
great start. This month I want to share with you an application
of Scripture which I hope will open your eyes to what goes on
everyday in this our time. While I know that the part of God’s
word I’m going to share with you applies to the judgment of the
nations of the world, I desire to share with you what the Holy
Spirit has given to me.
If we look in Matthew 25 and verses 35-40, I’ll begin sharing
what has hit me in the face!! Okay?? Great! Then have a look
with me as we glean together.
You know there are some people that are what I call “givers” and
others that are “takers”. Which are the one’s you think God cares
for most??
35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty,
and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
The verse above simply states I was hungry and you gave me
food, gave me something to drink, and you didn’t even know
who I was, and still you allowed me to stay.
36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I
was in prison, and ye came unto me.
This just says, I may have not had the best dress, I was not well
(body, mind, or in spirit), and yet you visited me in my prison.
37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw
we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38  When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked,
and clothed thee?
39  Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
Our givers pose questions as they knew not what was meant by
the Lord as they didn’t understand what was said to them.
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say
unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of
these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
(Matthew 25:35-40)
People shall always believe what they will. They expect to hear
things the way they want. So, if this is the case, how then can
they believe in that which can't be seen? The Holy Spirit would
come into the world after Jesus returned to the Father and in the
world even today.
The king answers them in simple terms, as it hit me to its true
meaning. Although it wasn’t the king himself but whoever it
may be, treat them as if they were king.
When I hear folks saying, “Gee that’s too bad, someone should
help him (or her)”. Maybe that someone should be you?? Not
because you’ll score points with the Lord, but because it is the
right thing to do. Furthermore, if we’d just look beyond
ourselves we might see the real person in need and not worry
what others may say or think. One does not have to look too far
to see someone who is worse off than one is.
Today, more than ever we need to be kind and tenderhearted to
one another. Remember, no matter how bad you have it, there are
those that have it far worse!!
If it were you in a fix of some kind wouldn’t you want someone
to help you?? Then do as the Lord says,”
A new commandment I
give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you,
that ye also love one another
” (John 13:34).
Just try and do as instructed! It’s hard enough for folks to give,
never mind giving love to someone that is unlovable. I’m sure
that the disciples had trouble taking these words in and
understanding them too. Yet we are told to do the very same
thing.
And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them
likewise
” (Luke 6:31).
Remember the “Golden rule”?? Well you just read it!! Do you love
God?? How about Jesus?? Well then, this should be easy as Jesus
has spoken it and it applies to us today. Now, remember the
person that needs help?? Good!! Then do to him (or her) as you’d
like him (or her) to do for you.
With things going the way they are today don’t you think people
who are in need and through no fault of there own, deserve
help?? Don’t you think just maybe these are the kind of folks
James had in mind when he said, “But be ye doers of the word,
and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves” (James 1:22) or
when James made a stronger statement, “Therefore to him that
knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin“(James 4:
17). It’s easy to say, “I love Jesus” or “I’m a Christian!” Not so
easy to act as one, isn’t it??
I pray that while this New Year is yet young that you make a
decision to work for the cause of Christ. Be a doer of His word
and put into action a plan that includes helping them that are in
need of Him and provisions found here in our world. Share Jesus
with folks and help or show them that there is a better way and
all is not lost. Show them Jesus that is in you and let them see
that you are not only a Christian in word but also in deed.
Remember not to forget that there was a time when you needed
help. Someone was there for you! Guess what?? It’s your turn.
So don’t condemn, remember when!! Also never forget Jesus died
for you; will you live for Him?? Please feel free to e-mail or write
at the address below.
